Tical
Unit of weight in Thailand first appearing as coins in the form of crudely shaped bullet money current from the 14th until the late nineteenth centuries. When European-style coins were introduced in 1860 the word was retained as a denomination (32 solot = 16 atts = 8 peinung or sio = 4 song pyorsik = 2 fuang = 1 salung or quarter-tical. The currency was decimalised in 1909 (100 satangs = 1 tical), and the tical was superseded by the baht about 1950.
