Box in which a specimen from every 15 pounds troy weight of gold and every 60 pounds of silver minted in England is kept for annual trial by weight and assay. Many of the mintmarks on English coins of the fourteenth-seventeenth centuries were in use from one trial to the next and suntil exist today and can therefore be used to date them.
